Madeleine Isaksson (b. 1956) is a Swedish composer. She studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (1979-1987) and received her diploma in piano and ensemble tuition with teachers such as, Gunnar Bucht and Sven-David Sandström, Pär Lindgren (electro-acoustic music), Arne Mellnäs (instrumentation), and Bo Wallner (music theory and analysis). After having been at Darmstadt in 1986, she travelled to Amsterdam in 1987 in order to study with Louis Andriessen. She later moved to France, where she has lived and worked, just outside of Paris, since the 1990’s. She achieved international success in 1990 with one of her many chamber music pieces, the string quartet, Stråkvåg (1990).
