Hjálmar H. Ragnarsson (b. 1952) (IS)

Hjálmar H. Ragnarsson (b. 1952) is an Icelandic composer who has studied at Brandeis University in Boston. He completed his master’s degree at Cornell University, New York in 1980 and his thesis was based on studies of Jón Leif’s music. From 1988 to 1992 he was the leader of the Icelandic Composition Association and from 1991 to 1998 he was president of the intensely political society of Icelandic artists. He is currently the rector at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts.

In Black and White (1978) for solo flute was performed at UNM 1981: Copenhagen.
