Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir (b. 1987) (IS)

Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir (b. 1987) is an Icelandic composer/performer based in Oakland, California. Her works have been performed in Europe, Australia and the USA by groups such as The Oslo Philharmonic (NO), Decibel (AUS), The Iceland Symphony Orchestra (IS) and Avanti! Chamber Orchestra (FI). Her work has graced many festivals, for example, Tectonics Music Festival Glasgow and Reykjavik, Cycle Music and Art Festival, Dark Music Days, and Peripherryberry concert series.                                    

Bergrún is currently an M.A. student in composition at Mills College, Oakland where she studies with John Bischoff, Fred Frith, James Fei and Zeena Parkins. She has been a member of the composer’s collective S.L.Á.T.U.R. (Association of Artistically Obtrusive Composers around Reykjavík) and has also been a touring and recording musician for Icelandic bands, in particular Sigur Rós and Björk.
